Overview
All students in the Bachelor of Music concentrations (Music Education and Performance) take the sophomore continuation jury. Students must perform this jury their 4th semester of study at UNO (second semester of their sophomore year).
Students have three tries to take the sophomore jury. Their 4th semester must be their first try. If a student fails to do this during their 4 th semester, this counts as one try. Students will no longer be able to continue in the BM degree plan if they fail three times.
Students must pass the Upper Division Jury before enrolling in 300 level lessons. Transfer students who begin their study at UNO their junior year must take one semester of MUS 215 applied lessons before doing the jury. The first attempt of the jury must be at the end of their first semester.
Each area has specific criteria that includes:
- Sight reading
- Demonstration of fundamentals, such as scales (to be determined by area)
- Two contrasting selections
